Trump Calls Relatives of Shot Military Soldiers to the White House

Former President Donald Trump revealed on Sunday that he has asked the family of a National Guard member killed last week to visit the executive mansion.

He added that he spoke to her parents and they were “heartbroken”.

Details on the Tragic Incident

US army specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was lost her life in a shooting on last Wednesday in DC.

Her comrade, Andrew Wolfe, 24, remains hospitalized in critical condition.

Memorials across the state have occurred in their memory.

White House Invitation

The commander-in-chief said he’s discussed a White House visit for the parents of both soldiers of the state Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a difficult moment, arrive at the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to Sarah,” the president told the press. “And similarly with Andrew, recover or not.”

Public Reaction

Community members gathered over the weekend at the high school in the state to honor Sarah.

Both she and Wolfe had been working with the state guard as part of the president’s federal initiative to support policing efforts in Washington DC.

Paying Tribute to Sarah Beckstrom

“She was the individual that instructors wished for. She carried herself with quiet strength, a bright grin and a optimistic attitude that lifted people around her,” the principal, the principal of her previous school, told the Associated Press. “She was sweet, caring and always ready to help others.”

Memorial arrangements for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.

Legal Actions and Government Revisions

Officials have charged a 29-year-old suspect with a charge of murder and two counts of violent assault while carrying a weapon.

The event prompted the government to suspend refugee claims and cease providing entry permits to holders of passports from Afghanistan.

Status of the Airman

The airman, a native of Martinsburg, began his service in early 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman high school, according to the news agency.

He remains under medical supervision and is “battling to survive”, the state’s governor the governor stated on a news program.

Attorney general Pam Bondi told a news show that she also intended to visit the family.

Memory of the Fallen Soldier

Beckstrom, from her hometown, completed her education from her high school in mid-2023 and joined the military shortly after, serving as a military police officer with honor, as stated by the West Virginia National Guard.

“She had a lot of compassion and she absolutely had bravery,” the governor informed the audience at the service. “Though her life ended too soon, she has made an impact that’s going to last forever.”
