LA Battles Historic High Temperatures Only One Week Following Severe Winter Weather.
In the wake of significant rainfall that led to inundation across parts of the city, the City of Angels is now grappling with abnormally warm temperatures for this time of year.
All-Time High Temperatures
By Friday afternoon, the mercury soared to 91°F (33°C) in downtown Los Angeles, according to meteorologists. This exceeds the previous daily record for this date, which was 31 degrees Celsius (88 Fahrenheit) and was established in the previous year.
"Very warm conditions" were highlighted on forecast charts for the region.
Public Health Alerts
The weather service issued a warning that Friday's conditions posed an "increased danger for heat illness" for those at risk. Their advice included:
- Keeping well-hydrated.
- Avoiding outdoor activities during the afternoon hours of the day.
- Ensuring you do not leave kids or animals unattended in a parked vehicle.
A Sharp Weather Swing
This sudden spike in temperature arrives just after a intense winter storm that struck the state recently. That storm delivered high winds, thunderstorms, and significant snowfall to higher elevations, causing flash flood warnings for many residents.

Temperatures Easing
Forecasters predict some relief is expected. The heat were predicted to fall to around sixty-one degrees Fahrenheit in downtown LA by Friday night.
Additional areas that hit ninety degrees featured Burbank, Woodland Hills, and Long Beach. Meanwhile, Oxnard, Westwood, Camarillo, and Santa Maria were forecast to reach the upper eighties.
In the coming days, central LA can expect weather in the 80s, with cooler weather expected for the following week.
