Iran Claims Assault on US Base in Bahrain, During Widespread Military Operations.
Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Bahrain, as Iran launched strikes across the region in retaliation for a significant and continuing assault targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area in the area of the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any destruction is not yet known and the United States has not commented.
Airspace Engagements
Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - stated they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.
In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was attacking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the offensive on the Islamic Republic initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That US-Israeli operation - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck areas associated with the Iranian leadership, with President Trump encouraging the Iranian people to revolt against the government.
Wider Impacts
In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israeli military said it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
