Esteemed Star Pat Finn, a versatile actor, Recognized For Roles in Friends and The Middle, Dies at Age 60.
Stateside performer Finn, who was seen in iconic television series such as Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has passed away at the age of 60.
The comedy and improvisation performer succumbed at his home in Los Angeles, California this Monday following cancer treatment from 2022 onward, per media reports.
"Pat Finn saw everyone as a friend - only friends he hadn't encountered," his loved ones said in a announcement.
They continued that he had "lived his life fully - with happiness and energy".
An Extensive Career on Screen
Finn's first television role was in the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he played the titular character's brother.
He was also seen in a regular part on "Murphy Brown" from 1995 to 1997.
He appeared as Joe Mayo in "Seinfeld" in 1998, portraying a party host who would assign burdensome jobs to his guests.
Throughout the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he had guest spots on a variety of hit series, including:
- The King of Queens
- "Friends"
- That '70s Show
- House, M.D.
His most famous role for his portrayal of the character Bill Norwood in The Middle, appearing throughout eight series over nearly a decade.
His cinematic roles are It's Complicated (2009) and "Santa Paws 2".
Beyond the Screen
Away from his acting parts, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and served as an educator at the University of Colorado, where he was a faculty member.
He was a member of a comedy group of six called Beer Shark Mice.
"Pat coached, befriended and mentored numerous pupils over the years and you'd be hard-pressed to find a person who has a bad thing to say about him," his family wrote.
In a tribute, peer actor Richard Kind noted there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, down to earth person you could encounter".
"Always positive, assisting others to improve and be funnier. A wonderful father and man," he shared publicly.
Pat Finn is survived by his spouse Donna, three children, and his family.
